Washington Opera House

Only a short 5 minute walk from our location stands the recently renovated Washington Opera House. This theater is home to the Maysville Players, the 4th oldest theater group in the country, that regularly puts on live performances for locals and visitors alike.

National Underground Railroad Museum

The National Underground Railroad Museum resides in the old Bierbower House, a documented Safe House for runaway slaves. Visitors will find multiple exhibits featuring an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and memorabilia documenting our town's role in abolition, as well as the history and role of slavery in America.

Visitors can also learn more about the culture and religion of slaves as well as the process of how many found freedom.

Kentucky Gateway Museum Center

The Russell Theatre was built in 1928 and has been providing the town of Maysville with entertainment ever since. The Russell Theater is poised to once again become the "Heart of downtown Maysville."

Cummins Nature Preserve

The Cummins Nature Preserve is a 110 acre recreation area just minutes from the heart of Maysville. There are many unique locations to hike, view animals, and learn more about nature. There are some free guided hikes that are offered throughout the season.
