Springtime in Maysville: Garden Tours and River Valley Blooms (Mar–May)

When winter fades and the Ohio River Valley begins to bloom, Maysville, Kentucky comes alive with color, music, and community spirit. Spring is the perfect season to experience the town’s charm at its most vibrant — and Moon River Bed & Breakfast makes the ideal base for exploring it all.

From March through May, the air is filled with the scent of budding flowers and fresh-cut grass, while downtown Maysville bursts with new energy. One of the season’s highlights is the Maysville Garden Tour, where local homeowners open their doors and gardens to visitors. Winding through the historic district, the event showcases lush courtyards, climbing roses, and creative landscaping that echo the beauty of Kentucky’s countryside.

Art lovers will enjoy the Spring Art Walk, which turns Market Street into an open-air gallery featuring local artists, craftspeople, and musicians. Visitors can browse paintings, pottery, and handmade jewelry — often while enjoying live performances from talented regional acts.

The Kentucky Gateway Museum Center also features special spring exhibitions, while antique shops and cafés spill onto the sidewalks, creating a festive, welcoming atmosphere. A stroll along the Ohio River walkway reveals dogwoods in full bloom and peaceful spots perfect for picnics or photos.

My sister and I stayed at Moon River while we toured the historical sites of the area which are plentiful. Anyone interested in the history of this great nation should visit Maysville and the surrounding villages. Our room was spacious, our bed very comfortable, our host, Denny, Gave us good information and was very pleasant to talk to. Moon River is just a block from everything. You could not have a better location. We hope to return someday.
